Rekindling the Spirit of Adventure

A Chat with Greg Daley on the Believe Again Podcast

By Josh Roberie

In the fast-paced whirlwind of modern life, too often we allow the tyranny of the urgent to determine how our days go. These pressing demands can distract us from our larger goals and dreams, leading many of us down a path of settling for a mediocre life. But what if there was a way to pivot from this narrative? What if you could begin to live a better, more fulfilling story? Today, we delve into this very idea with insights from Greg Daley of Parable. Join us as we uncover how to break free from the constraints of the immediate and embrace a life of purpose and adventure.

On a recent episode of the Believe Again Podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Greg Daley from Parable. Greg's insightful reflections and stories served as a poignant reminder that we should always cherish the spirit of adventure in our lives. The essence of our conversation circled around the idea of dreaming big and daring to reach for those dreams, regardless of how outlandish they may seem.

Greg reflected on a transformative experience, where he and his wife decided to reclaim control over their busy calendars. Motivated by the desire to design a life they genuinely wanted, they initiated what they fondly refer to as the 'Daley life weekend'. Through this weekend, set aside every year for over a decade, they play, find solitude, set yearly goals, and discuss the souls they'd like to touch throughout the year.

One such 'Daley life weekend' led to the conception of an RV trip around the country, allowing them to worship with various churches. At the outset, the idea seemed far-fetched, given the practical challenges they faced. Yet, with unwavering faith and a strong plan in place, they saw their dream come to fruition. Greg's story is a testament to the power of penning down dreams and relentlessly working towards them. He said, "What are those things God's calling you to that seem way bigger than you could imagine? Get them down on paper and start living towards it."

His words deeply resonated with me. I often find myself wondering, have I lost my spirit of adventure? Greg's journey is a beacon for all of us, reminding us to dream beyond our perceived limits and ask ourselves: What would we do if we were certain we couldn't fail? It's time we all channel our ambitions, regardless of our professions, and aim for the stars.
